I really don’t think folks like Killer Frost or Circe appreciate upstarts.

Lex Luthor would be less than patient with the developments.

Batman wouldn’t actually bother with all those new people. He’d fucking tell them to behave or kick them out of Gotham or leak their real names and have them detained.

Superman would be like, “Star Labs, we’ve got to cure these people. We can’t have this many vigilantes out here.”

And once the conflict ends

What do you think the response would be to places where a lot of PoC have wound up with powers?

They would all be criminalized or monitored or cured, so things wouldn’t “get out of hand”.

That’s one thing to notice about comics.

The ones with the most power aren’t really helping out too many PoC, not on some real type shit anyway.

And the Black folks who do make it into the Justice League or similar organizations, their concerns or activities towards their communities are erased or they serve a “greater good” as opposed to their own communities or they go off world.

I think in a realistic situation, PoC would have about as much stock in super heroes like Superman as they did in the Police.

To them, someone like Superman might represent worse.

He’s a Cis White Male alien raised in a small town, who easily moved into the upper echelons of power in metropolis. Clark Kent is the god damn enemy.

Let’s not even actually start in on Batman.

Marvel does have a lot of street level heroes and I like that

Sometimes you see how they’re also powerless to help out those around them in truly effective ways…

But then they always sort of get lifted out of that shit and it’s not… right or… I’m not sure what I want to say.

Even when you think of someone like Matt Murdock. He’s still a cis white male, despite his disability. He runs around beating the shit out of people, then convicting folks. He’s apart of a system, a racist system.

I wonder what someone like Luke Cage thinks of stop and frisk. I can certainly guess. And I can certainly guess that douche canoes like Reed Richards wouldn’t ever get that shit, Steve Rogers would be “troubled” but “powerless” and some folks are so rich and privileged and feeling themselves (too many of the X-Men leadership) that they wouldn’t fucking get it either.

I’d imagine that PoC don’t ever really forget, but the white folks that write them want them too.

But despite the fantastical elements, there are problematic issues in comics. All over the place.
